December 2023

There was some time to spare on Christmas Eve while the adults prepared for the party. As the rails and most of the deck on the restored Bridge 3 were complete, these two found that they could drive over the disused track beyond the bridge workings until stopped at a collapsed tube rail just before Bridge 5.

January 2024

Children visiting for the Christmas school holidays were the reason to put the light rail vehicle (i.e. modern tram) back on the rails. The Sydney trams have ten sections: end, suspended, middle, suspended, end, end, suspended, middle, suspended, end. So far we only had three sections.

They were having so much fun that we rounded up some scrap wood in the yard and threw together another section.


So now we have 40% of a Sydney Light Rail tram.

Back to the bush for more bridge work on the main line.


Now the work train can park on the far side.


All the deck down and ready for painting.

Hand rails to come next; then remove the temporary plank crossing; sort the remains of the old bridge into useful, firewood and compost. Then deal with the lantana that the deer have not eaten yet. Then ...
February 2024

Well, we have been too busy, or too lazy, to keep this page up to date. Work included painting the rebuilt bridge, replacing some failed tube rail and starting repairs on the first bridge. This included changing tube rail for profile rail and replacing some of the transoms. That all works but the deck also needs to be improved.


April 2025

Finally getting around to dealing with the two streaks of rust in the long cutting.
