program. As usual we have a nice selection of
day walks, extended activities, and the prospect of
some great summer trips early next year.
Our third annual Woodford to Warragamba walk
(W to W) has just been completed. This year, a total
of 85 walkers set out from three locations (Woodford,
Glenbrook and The Oaks) and completed walks of
33, 23 and 13km.
A special feature was again the beaut morning tea
at The Oaks prepared by Nick and Judith Hill. People
could not help being impressed by the mountains of
pastries which Judith kept putting on the table!
Erskine Creek was safely crossed despite the
level being a little higher than normal, and the climb
out of the valley proved no problem. The groups then
combined and we walked en masse along the fire
trail into Warragamba. And again Phil Foster and the
Blue Mountains Branch people had a terrific BBQ
waiting for the hungry walkers.
We will have a fuller article about the day in a
future Journal. But for now there are many people
who made the day such a success. Greg Bridge and
Phil Foster did the largest share of the organising,
Nick and Judith Hill for the terrific morning tea, Peter
Caldwell for leading one of the groups along with
Greg and myself, Steve Bennetts and Alan Gow for
providing support and transport at various stages.
And as in the past the work of Blue Mountains
Branch was superb with many people being involved
for the complete day or a part ot it. Special thanks to:
Wendy and Frank Wilkinson; Lily and Les Lawrenson;
Judith and Nick Hill; Jan and Phil Foster; Marion
Hawley; Kees Putting; Kay Davidson; and Tony
Foster.
This will be the last W to W in its current format.
Sydney Water will shortly start construction of the new
spillway, blocking access across the dam for several
years. But already the thinking caps are on and you
can be sure that we will have a similar event next
August.
And on the subject of coming events. The Six Foot
Track in a day trip is on again. The date is March 20
so keep that weekend free!
