The August Annual General Meeting of
State Council saw the retirement of Anne Reeves and Brian Everingham from the
NPA Executive. Both Anne and Brian have made very significant contributions to
the work of NPA.

Anne has been a very active
member of the conservation movement in South Australia and New South
Wales. She has left her mark on several organisations including the
Australian Conservation Foundation, the Nature Conservation Council of NSW
and, of course, NPA. She served as President of NPA and is known for her
coverage of a wide range of issues, her intensity in pursuing conservation
outcomes and her boundless energy. As President of NPA Anne established a
high level of contact with a range of Government agencies, being prominent
in water reform and NPA’s push for conservation outcomes in western New
South Wales. |
Brian made a significant
contribution as past convenor of the Reserves Committee and recently as
State Council secretary. He continues to be an active member of the
Southern Sydney Branch. Brian is known for his bushwalks, his early
morning birdwatching forays and his prompt production of State Council
minutes, often before delegates returned home from meetings. Brian is
looking forward to a busy time having been awarded one of five of Premier
Bob Carr’s American History Scholarships. |

I have benefited greatly from
advice from both Anne & Brian. NPA has been much enriched by their
contribution. Their shoes will be very hard to fill. I’m sure I speak
for all members in wishing them well in their future endeavours.
