Miniature Trains and Live Steam at Narara, near Gosford, NSW, AustraliaToy trains you can ride!About Us |
We are a community service group of Central Coast residents and friends who share an interest in miniature trains and railways (also other steam machinery of any scale).
We are grateful to the Central Coast Council (formerly Gosford City Council) for allowing us the use of land and a hall near Narara Creek. Although the land often floods, at other times it provides an interesting and varied environment for us to exercise our models. As well as looking after the railway we maintain the public picnic facilities, lawns and gardens on the property, also we preserve and protect the large area of native bush on the southern part of the land.
We cooperate with local service clubs to raise money for local charities, usually those that help patients in need at Gosford Hospital.
Our members are men and women of all ages from age 15 and up. Members often bring their children to help.
We are not a business. We make no profit and we employ no staff. Everyone who works at the club is a member or other volunteer. Needless to say, we welcome more volunteers to help, and preferably join as members.
We are active on most Saturdays and, for retired people and keen shift-workers, many weekday mornings. Once a month we open to allow members of the public to share the fun of watching and riding small trains. On other days the land is available to everyone for passive recreation and exercise.
We usually run from 1100 hrs to 1600 hrs. Everyone is welcome to come and see the trains but anyone expecting to ride them must wear fully covered footwear.
The September running day is our "birthday run" when many visitors bring their engines to our track.
Special Running Days can often be arranged for large groups at other times by appointment.
Club meetings are usually held two weeks after each run, that is on the third Saturday of most months.
Work days are usually held one week before each run, that is on the last Saturday of most months. Other Saturdays and many weekday mornings are often extra working days. If you are thinking about joining or volunteering at our club these work days are good times to come for a chat.
