WHATS NEWS.

The February running day was a quiet day passenger wise thankfully because a lot of the steam locos were late into steam due to the unexpected arrival at about 930 of 0.4m of concrete this was used to finish off the foundations around the drain for the access bridge and to continue the concreting of the 71/4 steaming bay thanks to all those members who helped out to quickly get the concrete laid and then get back to the running day.

It was pleasing to see so many locos at a running day and the chargemans list of locos whistling out is printed below.

4101 club loco.

XPT Allan Fogarty

421 John Gordon.

985 Mick Farrell.

3298 Leith Lewis.

14 Leal Brack

5 Narara Valley Logging Mack Truck Leon Brack.

8002 Trevor Crowhurst.

Digger’s Truck Graham Crowhurst.

A10 Tom Walker.

DANDY Bob Newman.

B2 Rob Lougher.

And Ivan Burns’ loco.

Thursday the 13th of February saw more concrete arrive and some more of the paving around the 71/4 steaming bay completed and also some more work done on the electrical system for the 71/4 bay with some more conduits and junction boxes installed.

Over the weekend of 22nd to the23rd of February quite a few of our members took the opportunity to participate in the Lake Macquarie clubs 50th Birthday Run at Edgeworth and even with that wonderous wet stuff falling from the heavens every one still had a good weekend.

Congratulations to the Lake Macquarie Live Steam Locomotive Society on reaching their 50th year milestone.

WORKS DIARY.

We are trying something a little different to try and help me with the newsletter and to try and keep up with what the members are doing on particular projects we have started keeping a diary of what work is being done around the club. The diary is kept on the top of the photo case in the van and should be returned to this place. If you do any work at the club it would be appreciated if you could put a brief story in the diary with your name and anyone who helped you.

I should point out that this was my idea to do this as a way of getting members input into the newsletter and it is not going to be used for anything else so please don’t abuse it by putting stupid comments and remarks in it.

If the diary is not in this place it may be that I have it at home to write the newsletter so please put your entry in later.

MARCH/APRIL NEWSLETTER.

Due to a few things happening in March and April the next two newsletters will either be combined or a bit later than normal I apologise for this but it can’t be helped.

PHOTOS

This months photos come from Keith Lewis and from a collection of photos sent to Mick Farrell by a gentleman from the Retired Transport Workers Association.

In the first photo we have some of the 5" boys having a play day with their locos which demonstrate motive power from three state systems. Peter Holts Victorian Railways "C" Class stands behind Tom Walker’s Queensland Railways A10 and Keith Lewis’ New South Wales Government Railways 32 Class.

In the next photo we see Mick Farrell’s Mogul 985 bringing another load of passengers over the trestle bridge on a club running day.

Kris Macey coaxes his 5" gauge Simplex over the trestle bridge on the club running day.

Peter Holt takes another load of passengers for a turn around the block behind the clubs 41 class.
