WHATS NEWS.

October and November Run days

The October and November running days were fairly well attended as was the Lions Club Run on the 18th of October, the Chargemans whistle out list looks quite respectable for the last three running days with some of these locos running at two of the three running days.

No.2	Leon Brack No.10	Leal Brack
4101	Club Loco C9	Peter Holt
985	Mick Farrell 8002	John Crowhurst
DANDY	Bob Newman XPT	Allan Fogarty
DEBORAH	Henry Lawrence 42105	John Gordon
LYNDAL	Henry Lawrence A10	Tom Walker
5902	Ken Howell 3298	Keith Lewis
and Stan Smith’s Diesel.

On the subject of the Lions Run thanks to those members who turned out at short notice to run for the Lions Club for us thankfully it was fairly quiet day passenger wise and some members took the opportunity to have a play day.

Driveway and Concrete Products Division

This branch of the club is continuing on in leaps and bounds with the big news that on Friday the 7th of November the last pour of concrete was done on the driveway (Fogarty’s Drive) and it may be ready for traffic by the next running day.

Allan has been quietly working on the drive and many other concrete products around the grounds for some time along with a team of members including Kelly Maybury, Bruce Langdon, Keith Lewis, John and Evelyn Crowhurst, Ken Howell and Norm Browne to name a few.

Allan of course has roped in many other unsuspecting members and even the odd unsuspecting Pioneer Driver on top of this Allan also asks the audience on a Thursday and Saturday and at other times uses the phone a friend method so beware you could be the next friend!

Some of the jobs that have been done around the club include -:

The driveway.

9 picnic table slabs around the grounds.

Retaining wall blocks to match those we have already but are no longer manufactured.

The wheel chair access ramp.

Picnic tables.

The top driveway across the front of the club building.

The path down to the bottom steaming bay.

Thanks to the generosity of the people at Pioneer Concrete up until the 30th of October we had been given 29.5 cubic metres of concrete and since then we have been given more including some test batches which Pioneers Engineers sat and waited and watched while it went off.

Many thanks go to Allan and his many helpers for their work on these projects.

Work Days

Those members who regularly visit the club may have noticed that the top steaming bay has been painted thanks to the efforts of Arthur Minter and Kelly Maybury who have been quietly looking after this project.

The club engine continues to receive regular attention from Ken Howell and the problem of traction motors running in opposite directions has been resolved in recent times.

Break In

Sometime during the week of November 9th to 13th the down stairs area of the club was broken into and two mowers stolen the people concerned were unable to get at the drinks and ice creams and turned off the power to the fridges resulting in the loss of a large amount of frozen goods.

Gosford Police are investigating the incident.
